Major Projects
For more than 160 years, Public Works has delivered and maintained critical infrastructure across Queensland. As the Queensland Government’s lead infrastructure delivery agency, Public Works plays a key role in shaping the built environment of our cities and regions, and improving the lives of Queenslanders.
The Major Projects business area, within Public Works, plans for and manages complex and diverse infrastructure projects and programs, supporting critical services, jobs and the Queensland lifestyle.
We provide professional services across the project lifecycle, from business case development to procurement, design and delivery.
As the owners of key Queensland Government building and infrastructure policies and procedures – such as the Building Policy Framework, Building Policy Guideline and the Prequalification (PQC) system – we advise on and manage major infrastructure projects and programs.
We follow a rigorous risk-based methodology and governance structure. This ensures that appropriate risk management and mitigation strategies are implemented to preserve cost, scope and outcomes.
