Rothwell: Social housing for Moreton Bay
A social housing property in Rothwell is providing temporary accommodation for people in urgent housing need. The 18-unit property provides a short-term place to stay for people in the Moreton Bay region before they move into long-term housing.
Located on the site of a former aged care property, the property was refurbished to provide a safe and secure place to stay for those in need of housing or at risk of homelessness.
Featuring 18 semi self-contained furnished rooms, each unit contains a kitchenette and a secure bathroom shared between two rooms. The property is for single adults and couples, eligible for social housing, as well as individuals with mobility issues and the elderly.
It is centrally located to essential services with grocery stores, schools and public transport all within one kilometre of the site.
Increasing housing supply
The Rothwell site follows the successful repurposing of former aged care properties in Clayfield, Toowoomba and the Redlands and delivers on the Queensland Government’s commitment to providing more support for people in housing need and increasing the supply of housing.
