Alyssa has found a safe and stable home at the new Townsville Youth Foyer.

The 40-unit youth foyer provides safe homes to Queenslanders aged 16 to 25 years who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Young residents will receive onsite support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from Mission Australia youth workers, helping them to gain essential, practical life skills to transition into independent living while they work, study or train for a qualification in their chosen field.

‘If I wasn’t at the foyer, I’d most likely be homeless,’ says Youth Foyer resident Alyssa.

‘So, couch surfing, just living in unsafe environments and stuff like that.’

‘I’m glad I’m here,’ says Alyssa.

Local young people helped co-design this foyer to make sure it meets the needs of residents and integrates into the Townsville community.
