Helping elderly Queenslanders to remain at home
Quality Fabrications and Welding is a small family-owned company based in Townsville, providing quality steel manufacturing to customers across North and West Queensland.
Working directly with QBuild, the company manufactures, supplies, and installs ramps and handrails to enable older residents to continue to stay in their homes and have a better quality of life.
'The ramps in particular help the older generation of our community access their residence, as many walking aids and even just a small rise into their residence can be difficult to manage,' said Lyle Johnstone.
'We had one customer who had recently tripped and fallen on a 50mm rise into their home. Once notified by QBuild, we quickly manufactured a ramp so the customer could access their home safely when they returned home from hospital.
'We have also been working directly with QBuild in relation to completing improvements and repairs to local schools across the Townsville region. We have been involved in upgrading roof structures and water down pipes to maintain the safety of this infrastructure for students and staff.'
Quality Fabrications and Welding employ 2 tradesmen and 2 apprentices who live locally within the Townsville region. The company recently employed a school-based apprentice through Tech NQ Townsville, which allows the student to complete high school whilst learning a trade.
