Supporting local jobs, local suppliers and training
CMBM Facility Services Pty Ltd demonstrates its commitment to ‘Putting Queenslanders first’ by employing 360 local staff across Queensland, encouraging workforce diversity, investing in training, supporting local suppliers, and focusing on safety.
Queensland owned and operated, CMBM has delivered cleaning, building, maintenance and management services to Queensland clients, including the Queensland Government, since 2005. It has 12 offices, ranging from the Gold Coast to Cairns and inland.
Work Health and Safety, Quality and Environment Manager, Ian Gardiner, said its highly trained staff services over 450 clients across more than 675 sites.
CMBM proactively supports regional employment, with 68 employees in Mackay, 26 in Townsville, 33 in Bundaberg, and 78 in Gladstone.
Ian said CMBM helped people living in the regions access government schemes to obtain training through their internal training organisation, TrainUp! CMBM works with a registered training organisation to deliver nationally recognised training, such as the Certificate III Cleaning Operations.
'We have high levels of engagement with local Queensland communities, especially in regional areas where we promote the opportunities for work, provide the opportunity for training, engage local contractors, use local suppliers and support the communities in which we work,' he said.
All CMBM staff receive training, with 17 in-house courses offered to increase industry knowledge. As well as external courses fully funded by CMBM.
Internal Marketing and Bid Co-ordinator, Kiara Blinco said: 'We definitely want to give all of our regional employees every tool that we can to see them succeed.'
Supporting ‘local’ is a company priority. CMBM also prioritises community engagement, sponsoring local charities and organisations such as local football clubs.
In line with the Queensland Government’s procurement approach, CMBM supports disadvantaged groups by working with employment agencies such as Busy at Work. In the current financial year, CMBM have brought on 13 new staff from these agencies. Their affiliation and mentorship of Multhana Property Services, a Supply Nation Certified business with 51% Indigenous ownership, also supports this.
CMBM has strong safety processes and policies in place that see many sites exceeding industry standards in incident-free days.
