Supporting Queensland starts in their backyard

Bob’s Irrigation Services is a Queensland-based company specialising in the irrigation planning, supply, maintenance and installation of irrigation, filtration, fertigation, pumping systems and water storage across residential, commercial and specialised sectors. Bob Walls started the company from his Brisbane home more than 17 years ago, and it has grown to become a preferred supplier across a diverse market.

This small business epitomises ‘putting Queenslanders first’ by supporting the community through sourcing supplies and services locally, creating opportunities for apprentices and trainees, and ensuring they have a diverse team while supplying services to government facilities such as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and local schools.

“Supporting Queensland starts in our backyard,” said Managing Director, Peter Walls.

“We feel that by sourcing suppliers and services locally, we can influence a sustainable supply chain for all Queenslanders. By providing repeat business, we create opportunities for those businesses to flourish, using our buying power to contribute to the economic growth of Queensland.

“This approach has not only been beneficial for the community but has also kept us going strong during the pandemic, helping to establish us as a trusted name.

“This is largely possible due to repeat business from our regulars, including QFES, who we have supplied directly over the last ten years, along with other Queensland Government facilities.”

In the last financial year, Bob’s Irrigation Services has spent over half a million dollars with local businesses like Reece, Hydration Consultants and Centenary Landscaping.

As well as their procurement strategy, the company puts Queenslanders first through their equal-opportunity employment approach.

We currently employ 11 people, including apprentices and some completing other studies, and we take pride in being an equal opportunity employer.

“Our office manager works from her Toowoomba home with flexible shifts that enable her to pick up her kids from school and maintain a work-life balance.

“We employ the best person for the job and work with any barriers to develop a solution so that every person is given a fair go—as is the Queensland way.”
